Being a Noble is how you will turn yourself from a mere peasant into the ultimate ruler for your Kingdom in Sims 4. Whether this is a good or bad thing for the people around you is entirely up to how you choose to rule…

On that note, here’s our complete Sims 4 Noble Career guide, including how to become a Noble, how to progress through the Noble Career and Royal Decrees explained.

On this page:

How to become a Noble in Sims 4

To start the Noble Career in Sims 4 you can either ask a high-ranking Noble for a Knighthood, read a specific book, or buy a Throne. So far, we’ve found that the easiest way to join the Noble Career is to buy a Throne, but if you’re low on funds then seeking out and reading the right book is also a quick option.

However, if your Sim is a child of a Noble or marries a Noble then you’ll automatically join this career.

Buy a Throne

You can buy a Throne in Build/Buy mode, place it down in your home lot and interact with it to join the Noble career.

There are two thrones currently available:

  • Ornate Throne – 3,500 Simoleons
  • Majestic Throne – 2,500 Simoleons

Once you have a Throne, click on it and select the ‘Join Noble Career’ option. You’ll now be the lowest rank of Noble.

Read a Book

You can also read the ‘The Duchess Diaries: A History of Nobility’ book to become a Noble. You can easily find this book in the bookshelves at Zanbira Market in Ondarion. This is a quick and free way of joining this career.

Ask for a Knighthood

If all else fails, or you’ve been playing for a while and have been making nice with high-ranking Nobles, you can ask them for a Knighthood. We’d recommend either of the other methods over this one, but it entirely depends on how you want your adventure to play out.

How to progress through the Noble Career in Sims 4

You need to fulfill your royal duties and obligations to get promoted in the Noble Career. Once you’ve joined, open your Career panel in the bottom right corner of your screen to see your current rank, subject satisfaction and most importantly, the tasks you need to complete.

Here you’ll have two sets of tasks, Promotion Tasks and Noble Duties:

  • Promotion tasks – Complete the task or tasks shown here to be able to move up to the next rank. There are no time limitations on this.
  • Noble Duties – These are your daily tasks for your current title. The higher the rank you are, the more of these you have.

When you’ve completed them, they will be ticked and become gold. Once you’ve completed your Promotion Task you can interact with your Throne and select the ‘Noble Promotion’ then ‘Claim Noble Promotion’ option here. This will then progress you to the next rank in the Noble Career.

Once you reach Level three you can ask for a Promotion through a Coronation Speech or through a Coronation Ceremony. No matter what you choose, you’ll be promoted to the next Level.

However, once you reach Level 9 in this career path you may encounter a block when trying to rise through the ranks. If there is another Level 10 Noble Sim (also known as the Monarch), they will become your Noble Rival.

If you want to become Level 10 and become the supreme ruler of your Kingdom, you’ll need to take the Throne from your rival – either by force, humiliation, persuasion or the occasional murder.

What to do as a Noble in Sims 4

Being a Noble is much more than completing your Noble Duties and Promotion Tasks. The higher you climb the ranks, the more options will become available to you. However, your main goal is to please your subjects so you don’t get wrapped up in a scandal or lose the respect of your kingdom!

Here are all the things you can do as a Noble:

  • Noble Ventures – These are usually the Noble Duties tasks that appear, from going to a school to visiting heritage sites, there’s plenty to be seen doing.
  • Hold Court – This timed event brings your loyal subjects to your Throne, you can listen to their problems and give out advice or pass judgement. Just be careful, you can’t please everyone and sometimes this can get you in trouble.
  • Hold a Press Conference – Need to do some damage control? You can use a podium to hold a conference to put any problems to bed, including redeeming yourself after a scandl.
  • Donate to Kingdom Funds – You can choose to donate money towards your Kingdom. If you want to be benevolent, you can use money cheats and give away plenty of it.
  • Royal Introduction – For when a simple ‘Sul Sul’ won’t cut it, introduce your royal self to new people.
  • Discuss Noble Life – It’s good to get it off your chest, you can discuss Noble life with others willing to listen.

  • Ask to be Noble Advisor – Make sure you pick someone you trust for this role, they’ll help you make choices about ruling your kingdom!
  • Answer Noble Mail – Check your mailbox for Royal Mail. Open it from your inventory and choose to give a friendly or mean reply.
  • Set Kingdom Taxes – You can set the Kingdom Taxes anywhere from Very High to Very Low.
  • Enact Royal Decree – Your Kingdom, your rules!
  • Bestow Knighthood – Choose a friend or acquaintance to become a Noble. Just watch who you give this honour to, not everyone can be trusted.
  • Give Noble Title – While you’re holding Court you can give a Noble a different title.
  • Abdicate Throne – Is the pressure of ruling becoming too much? Abdicate your Throne and run away from your responsibilities!

Sims 4 Noble Favor Alignment explained

The way you rule your kingdom will be reflected in your Favor Alignment. You’ll be able to see this in your career panel.

There are three distinct states for your Favor Alignment, each one will determine how certain members of the kingdom will react to you, how they feel about you, and which activities you can undertake as a Noble:

  • Royal – Any Noble that leans towards the Noble class can do things like Attend Political Conferences for Nobles. You tend to get this more by raising taxes and giving more power to the privileged.
  • Common – Helping non-Noble subjects in your Kingdom will help you lean towards this Favor. You can do things for the community like Cutting Ribbons at a Local Business Opening and you’ll often lean towards this side by making choices that benefit the people.
  • Neutral – This is typically your alignment when you first come to power, but your actions will soon change this.

How to hold court in Sims 4

Part of your job as a Noble is to ‘Hold Court’ every now and then. This is a timed event that you can start by selecting the option from your Throne. As soon as this event begins, some of your subjects will appear at your home around the Throne room.

You’ll have a list of tasks in the upper left corner of the screen, and how successful your event is will depend on how many of these you complete – just like any other event or party.

To listen to your crowd’s problems, select the option from your Throne. Once your Sim is seated, other Sims will come to them with problems and then it will be your choice as to how to respond. Think carefully about what you’re going to say and who you’re saying it to as this will alter your alignment, as well as your Kingdom’s view of your rule.

Sims 4 Royal Decrees explained
