Dr. Hernandez’s career began with a 25-year tenure as the principal of an international private K-12 school, where she developed curriculum and teacher training materials that laid the foundation for her later accomplishments. She also served as the executive director of Mujer Libre, an organization that combats Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of women and girls, from 2014 to 2023. Moreover, Dr. Hernandez was affiliated with Atlas Free between 2019 and 2023, beginning as a regional coordinator for Latin America and Spain and then as a policy and advocacy director and international program director.

In preparation for her future, Dr. Hernandez completed an undergraduate degree in education from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1986, a Master of Education from Universidad Itaca in 2013, a Pre-Doctoral program in educational leadership and administration from Centro Universitario de Tijuana in 2013, and a Doctor of Philosophy in public policy and government from the Universidad de Baja California in 2020. Additionally, she garnered several professional credentials, including life coaching certification from the Center for the Advancement of Christian Coaching in 2008, designation in biblical counseling from Light University in 2010, and certification as a Human Rights consultant from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights 2020.

In addition to her educational background, Dr. Hernandez is a member of the Professional Association for Micro Schools. She has also been actively involved with several civic organizations. She consults for organizations addressing human trafficking and exploitation of girls and women, including Empoderame, The Alika Kinan Foundation, Mujer Libre, and Prostitution Research and Education. She is a member of several boards, including Project Suma in Bolivia and the US.

Dr. Hernandez has received several accolades for her contributions, including a National Award for Human Rights for the State of California in 2017 and a Leadership in Education Award from Education 2.0 in 2024. She also secured a grant for innovation in education from the Vella Foundation. Dr. Hernandez attributes her success to faith, perseverance, and integrity.
