INDITEX joins EduAct to provide career guidance for high school students in Romania

EduAct, a non-profit organization implementing formal and non-formal education programs for primary, middle and high school students in units identified by the World Bank as having critical performance levels, has launched the Compas Vocațional program. This program offers sessions and activities to guide high school students from two high schools in Satu Mare and two high schools in Bucharest in their career choices.

Compas Vocațional is structured as a series of practical sessions and modules that provide high school students with career perspectives, giving them the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their professional future. The program includes information sessions on the labor market, personal development workshops, sessions led by companies that bridge the gap between the labor market in different sectors and young people with a starting CV, as well as work visits and mentoring programs within companies.

The program implemented by EduAct is carried out with the support of INDITEX Romania, a strategic partner of the program, providing financial resources and expertise in the field of career guidance.

“We are delighted to join EduAct in their mission to provide adequate and necessary information to high school students who are in the process of deciding which professional path to choose for the future. We firmly believe that education is the key to a better future and is vital for personal development, economic prosperity, and social equality. Compas Vocațional program will provide high school students with the skills and knowledge they need to more easily identify career perspectives that suit them. Education will always be a priority for Inditex and we will continue to invest significantly in educational programs that offer young people opportunities to develop their skills and reach their full potential,” said company representatives.

“We are grateful for INDITEX’s support in our high school student career guidance program. Our belief is that the strength of a developing country lies in the education of its children. Sometimes, non-governmental organizations, together with the private sector, can be more powerful than the state. Two years ago, we wondered what the labor market in Romania would look like in 2035 if we kept the same direction? How can we build businesses and think about economic growth if the local market does not have education and, implicitly, no purchasing power? And nor does it generate any labor force? It is a joint effort, supported by values and responsibility towards all of us to invest in children who, in a few years, will become the workforce.” said Ioana Breazu, founder of EduAct.

Currently, Compas Vocațional provides career guidance sessions for students from two high schools in Satu Mare and two other high schools in Bucharest. Every two months, HR specialists and people from companies, along with personal development counselors, involve 11th-grade students in activities and sessions that support them in making professional choices that suit their abilities.

Through quality educational programs, young people can acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully integrate into the labor market, with a significant impact on them and on society through personal development, economic growth, and poverty reduction.
