Carlton Bolling’s career guidance acknowledged with award

Carlton Bolling School was awarded the Career Mark in acknowledgement of its efforts to provide support for students as they plan their next steps.
The Career Mark, which is managed by licensed awarding body for the Quality in Careers Standard, Complete Careers, involves five assessment components: management; careers learning; information; advice, guidance and support; and – assessed through an “assessment day” and by speaking to learners – learner outcomes.
Head of school Mohammed Azum said: “This award is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment of our staff and students.
“At Carlton Bolling, we focus on developing not only academic success but also the skills and experiences our students need to thrive in the world beyond school.
“We are committed to preparing our students for life beyond the classroom and supporting them in becoming lifelong learners.”
Lindsay Wilson, deputy headteacher, also reflected on the impact of the school’s career development efforts.
She said: “The work we’ve done in careers education is already proving successful, with a remarkable zero per cent NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) figure.
“Our students are now more confident for their first interviews, whether for college placements or work, thanks to the social and cultural capital they gain through our Carlton Edge programme.
“This programme helps students build the confidence and skills they need to succeed in a range of professional settings, and it’s clear that it’s making a real difference.”
Adrian Kneeshaw, CEO of Carlton Academy Trust, added: “This is yet another example of the commitment to excellence at Carlton Bolling.
“I’m incredibly proud of Lindsay and the wider team for all their dedication and efforts to attain this award.”
More than 20 professionals recently attended the school as part of its first-ever Excellence Week, with these guests – some of whom were Carlton Bolling alumni – recounting career journeys for the pupils’ benefit and sharing inspiration.
Sajid Khan, a management consultant and former student of Carlton Bolling, encouraged students to aim high during his visit.
He said: “There are no glass ceilings.
“The sky is the limit.
“Your potential is only restricted by your imagination and determination.
“Dream big and go for it.”
Engineers, consultants, nurses, and entrepreneurs all visited during Excellence Week.
